Dreaming of Home: Dream Files #11 & 12

Two new additions to the Dream Files:

I am dreaming of getting a good job so I can buy a nice house in the forest in Vermont and spend my days building things like halfpipes and sheds.
Evan, F., Burlington, VT, USA

My dream is to learn the skills to build a house from the ground up, and do so on land I own.
Nick G., Washington, DC, USA

Dreams about home are the most frequent kind of dream I tend to see lately. A lot of times, these dreams aren’t just about physical spaces; they’re also about what we imagine might be possible in them: proximity to friends, family and community; space to pursue hobbies; a measure of stability.

It’s worth noting, then, that a lack of affordable housing means so much more than a lack of shelter. When there’s a shortage of affordable housing—for instance as housing becomes a “luxury good”—basic forms of wellness also become more unequally distributed.
